Citizen Games started with a simple observation: the sport combining firearms training with physical challenge is one of the most compelling things we've ever seen — and almost no one is allowed in.
There are roughly 100 million gun owners in the United States. A fraction of 1% of them have ever competed in a formal tactical fitness event. Not because the other 99% don't want to — because the events weren't designed for them.
Citizen Games built an adaptive tier system that assesses each participant and calibrates the course to their exact skill level and physical fitness. A 58-year-old hunter and a 28-year-old athlete can compete on the same day, leave equally challenged, and both return for the next event.
We started in Willmar, Minnesota — not despite it being a small rural town, but because of it. Deep firearms culture. Strong community bonds. Zero competition. This is where Citizen Games belongs.
These aren't aspirational statements. They are operational commitments that shape how every Citizen Games event is planned, staffed, and run.
Citizen Games was built out of two things in equal measure — frustration and conviction. The frustration: watching a sport with enormous potential stay locked behind gates marked "elite only." The conviction: knowing exactly what happens when those gates come down.
We grew up in communities where firearms are tools, traditions, and a way of life. We believe in the Second Amendment not as an abstraction, but as something you practice, respect, and pass on. Physical fitness is the same — not a performance, but a commitment to being capable when it matters.
Citizen Games puts those two things together and opens the door to everyone who ever looked at a tactical fitness event and thought: "I want to do that — I just don't think I'm ready yet."
